What are Winter Tyres?
Winter tyres are a specialist kind of tyre designed to deal with the hazardous weather conditions that occur in winter.
Black ice, snow, and just the cold temperature affect how conventional tyres function. Winter tyres are made from a special rubber compound that maintains its flexibility during cold winter temperatures (<7 °C).

How Winter Tyres Work
The cold causes two problems for tyres.
The frigid temperatures make the natural rubber harder, reducing its flexibility; and the standard tread design cannot maintain its grip on snow and ice.
Winter tyres counteract these problems with a specialised rubber formula and a tread design that bites into the snow and ice to provide a secure interlocking grip.
Some winter tyres have an increased groove ratio and up to 10 times the number of sipes.
